Sam Naps

Sam is napping at the moment and so I thought I might take another stab at a page of him...there is SOO much to learn with Photo Shop Elements!

I used a scheme from the book, Digital Designs for scrapbooking and went from there. Here is where I am. If I improve it I will add the improved version later. :)

Enjoy!

learning

Matt sat down with me and gave me a mini tutorial that allowed me to create a digital scrap page of my little Samuel. As you can see we were pretty successful at it. I can't wait to try more - this is my start...

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Olivia

My friend Jen has a 6 year old named Olivia and she is quite the smart and cute girl...Olivia has had a bad week! She broke her arm on a school field trip and then on top of that she had an allergic reaction to her pain medicine - poor thing!

So...I made a card for Olivia. She has a fondness for stamping and really appreciates home made cards. Olivia even gets angry when she can't join Jen and I when we stamp together! I hope she likes the card.

In other news Sam and I are keeping up with his changing sleeping needs and we are training for the Chicago Half Marathon on September 9, 2007! My friend Christy and I are training together with the boys.

As you can tell from his picture Sam is still happy go lucky - especially after he eats.

Identification

When we were at church yesterday I was reminded that Sam needs a name tag for his diaper bag when he goes to nursery. Usually they just take a white label and put his name on it and stick it on the bag. I thought maybe he could have something a bit more custom and so I went to work in my stamp room.

Above you see what I came up with...now I just need to get it laminated so that it doesn't fall apart!

Baby Sam

I wanted to share this picture of Baby Sam. He's so wonderful...

paranoia

Matt says that sometimes I can be a bit paranoid of things - for instance, I lay in bed and imagine noises coming from downstairs and get scared that someone is in the house.

Now that Sam has joined us I see that Matt also has concerns - and mine have somewhat multiplied by becoming a mother.

Samuel has started to hold and touch things and particularly enjoys holding onto fabric and so I decided it was time to pull out the stuffed animal/blankie thing that his cousin Charis got him when he was born. When it's time for Sam to nap, I give him a pacifier and put this blanket in his hands.

Matt noticed this the other day and became concerned that Samuel would suffocate from putting it on his face and not being able to take it off and mentioned his concern to me. I told him that I thought it was no big deal and that he would be able to take it off of his face if he wanted to and had developed enough for it to be OK for him to have.

Fast forward to nap time Sunday morning. I put Sam down for his nap with blankie and pacifier and then left him so I could continue getting ready to go to Church.

Time for Sam to get up and eat before church. Matt asks that he get to go wake him up to eat. Pictured below is what he found and he promptly grabbed me to show me what happened.

So...I guess we were both right. It was a legitimate concern that Sam would end up with the blanket on his face. He did, but I was right. He was OK and actually slept that way for his nap.

Rock Star

A mother's opinion is never humble - this is my disclaimer.

From the moment he was born Samuel has been such a rock star. He was born for the part - look at his hair! I love it so much and never could have known how much I would love the face that would match his full head of hair...

So today Sam was able to try on his new life vest - purchased so Matt can take him out on the boat in the evenings. I have placed a lot of trust in Matt to keep my little Rock Star safe and sound...I can't wait to hear the report!

Sam and I also took some pictures together today. I am trying to get a picture of him and I together just everyday living. The results are presented to you...I love the picture of him looking in the other direction. He is so curious about life. :)

Monday

Yesterday was Mother's Day and Matt and I made it to church with Sam - we were clean, showered and fed. Pretty good for us! Sam spent time in the nursery while we went to the service. Such a feat for us new parents!

After the service we went to his mom's house for Buddy's Barbeque for lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon at home thinking about how we were going to straighten out our yard.

I ended the weekend stamping with my friend Jen at her house. We usually get together Sunday nights to stamp. Jen is an amazing stamper who has been published several times and we always have a good time relaxing and getting our creative juices going.

This morning Christy and I went running and were able to do about 3 miles while pushing the kids. She's the trooper - she pushed 2 big boys. Sam is just 14 lbs.

We shall see what the rest of the day brings...Happy Monday!

Hello.

Here I am...here to post about Sam and I and what is going on in life. Sam and I spent this week getting ready for Mother's Day. We sent his Me-ma a gift and his G-ma will get her gift tomorrow. I can share more about that later!

Sam and I did make a card to send to his Me-ma in Chicago as you can see above...The stamps are from a company called My Favorite Things. Such cute images!

Tonight I get to go for a long run with my friend Christy - an alone run without pushing either of our boys. Of course, Christy's boys are much bigger than Samuel but pushin is pushin! We are excited about that. I will let you know how it goes.

So in sum...I guess you will hear about the things that are taking up life for me right now:

  1. Sam
  2. Running
  3. Stamping
  4. Learning about Digital Scrapping
Happy Saturday!
