Quizzes

Check out this quiz I found on a blog today! It's pretty funny how it labeled me. Anyone agree?

You Belong in 1995

Who doesn't love a nap?

Sam is starting school this week! Right now he will be attending on Thursdays, but we shall see if he (or I) needs two days a week at school. ;)

When I read my mom materials I noticed that he needed to take a nap pad and sheet for nap time. I am not really sure that he will sleep during this time, but I thought the request needed further attention.

As I browsed through my stash of patterns (I hoard them when they go on sale at Joann's) I found the perfect item - the nap mat from McCall's 5604. I was able to use some of the fabric that I stashed (and hoarded too) from this last Thanksgiving sale at Joann where the fabric was $.99 a yard. It was the perfect use for it!

Well, it certainly isn't perfectly sewn, but it was made with love for my little guy. I hope he enjoys it and thinks of his mama when he snuggles (or steps all over) it!

Dancin In The Streets

Some people think that big cities are impersonal places, but I really do think that is a misconception! Communities are formed in many ways and one of those ways are through the neighborhoods and blocks that you live on. Sam and I visited the family this weekend and one of the things that we were able to do was catch up with old family friends. We went to their block party - a party where you close the streets and have a party on your block.

As you can see my baby had a wonderful time! I can't begin to tell you how happy this makes my heart to see. I hope he keeps dancing...

He wears me out.

I am having fantasies of being back in the office...those days where you are not chasing a toddler around!

Sam has been learning so much. Talking, running, and finding his way. He challenges me all the time! He wants what he wants when he wants it. Such is the life.

Whenever I face challenges with being a mom I tell myself, "You are not the first and only one going through this. Other moms have done it and survived. Some are surviving worse!" That's my pep talk. Patience, patience!

I am trying to savor the days we spend together because I know they won't last forever. He is awesome and challenges or not, at the end of the day I love this guy!

In other home projects...

Here's pictures of the other pillows that I did for the couches downstairs. The fabric is from the ghetto fabric superstore in Chicago, but I am sure you can find it in other places too. :)

Again, I used the envelope pillow instructions in Amy Butler's Midwest Modern book.

Happy Monday! Do I post more than once a week? Hmm. I will check the record on that one.
